Peter Romey

Past Committee Member

Peter Romey has been working in the heritage conservation field for over twenty five years, both as a consultant and in government.

Peter is now working as a Senior Associate at the leading Sydney heritage consulting firm Godden Mackay Logan Pty Ltd. He recently relinquished his role as Director, Conservation and Infrastructure at the Port Arthur Historic Site in Tasmania, a Tasmanian Government Business Enterprise.

Previously he spent eight years as the planning manager responsible for heritage conservation at the City of Sydney. During this period of considerable change he was responsible for the development of strategic heritage policy initiatives for Central Sydney and Ultimo Pyrmont, and for advice to the Council regarding development proposals affecting buildings and other items of heritage significance in the city.

He is a chartered architect, and is currently undertaking a Master of Architecture degree at the University of Sydney. He is a member of the Tasmanian Heritage Council Works and Assessment Committee, as well as a number of advisory committees for conservation initiatives in Tasmania. He is a member of the national Executive Committee of Australia ICOMOS, and a former member of the NSW Heritage Council Archaeological Advisory Panel and the National Trust Architectural Advisory Committee.
