Helen Wilson

Past Secretary

Helen Wilson studied architecture at Queensland University and the AA Graduate School, London. She worked in architectural practices in London and Sydney and lectured in architecture at Sydney University in the 1980s. During this time, she organized university students and staff to join the international archaeological research team in Karnataka, India, and assist in recording Vijayanagara, a C15th city and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In 1991, Helen established her practice Helen Wilson Heritage Conservation Design which carries out the full range of heritage reports and studies, building conservation advice and projects, and heritage related design and construction projects. Helen has had extensive experience in the heritage and conservation field and broad experience in local government as a heritage advisor around NSW since 1992. She has been a heritage advisor in Ashfield for over 12 years, involved in the management of Ashfield’s heritage assets including Haberfield Garden Suburb, and in 2010 was appointed as Heritage Advisor to Canada Bay.

Since joining the Executive Committee in 2007, Helen has enjoyed the range of interesting work of the committee and has served as Membership Secretary (2007- 2009), Secretary (from 2009) and on the organizing committee of the 2010 ICOMOS/TICCIH Conference in Broken Hill.
