Angela McGowan

Past Committee Member

Angela McGowan is an archaeologist who has worked in cultural heritage management in Tasmania for over 30 years.

In Tasmania she has worked for Heritage Tasmania, the Parks and Wildlife Service, the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and in private practice. At various times she has been responsible for conservation of and research into historic and Aboriginal heritage in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and other reserved lands, and has undertaken historical archaeological projects in Antarctica and on Heard Island. She recently retired from Heritage Tasmania, where she was the historical archaeologist and was also responsible for national heritage issues.

Angie has been an ICOMOS member for many years and joined the Executive Committee in February 2010. She has previously served on the Tasmanian Heritage Council and is also a member of the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology, the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists, the National Trust of Australia (TAS) and Cultural Heritage Practitioners of Tasmania.
