Kerime Danis, a Turkish Australian, is a built heritage specialist with 40 years’ experience in architecture and heritage conservation. She is director of City Plan Heritage based in Sydney.
A passionate ICOMOS member since early 2000s with a proven commitment in various committees and activities in Australia and Internationally, she shares her knowledge and experience in heritage conservation, mentorship, climate change, sustainability, carbon reduction, heritage charters and caring for Country with like-minded professionals and indigenous communities.
Recently elected to the post of National Committee Officer for the International ICOMOS Advisory Committee, Kerime’s other ICOMOS roles include – Member Advisory Committee Sustainability & Communication Task Force (SCTF-1 2021-present); Member Advisory Committee Review of National Committees Compliance Working Group (2016-2018); President Australia ICOMOS (2016); Secretary Australia ICOMOS (2014-2015); Australia ICOMOS Executive Committee Member (2011-2013); Secretary General ICIP (2018-present); Expert Member ISC-SBH (2013-present); Expert Member ISCES+CC (2020-present); Member AI NSCES (2018-present); Member AI NSC-ICH (2020-present).
Kerime has been actively involved with ICOMOS Pasifika and organised a number of capacity building events as convenor in Fiji including the 2015 capacity building workshop, the 2018 joint conference “Conserving It Together”, and she is the coordinator for the ICOMOS Pasifika Heritage Charter. As a result, Kerime was a vital person in the recently completed registration of ICOMOS Pasifika as a non-government organisation in Fiji.
Her two key passions are climate change/carbon reduction and mentorship of Emerging Professionals. She was co-convenor for the Caring for Country webinar series, and has been coordinating the NSW Mentoring Program of Australia ICOMOS since 2015 as well as advising the international ICOMOS Emerging Professional Working Group (EPWG) in developing the ICOMOS Mentorship Toolkit. She is currently organising, as co-convenor, the upcoming Caring for Country Workshop to be held as a side event of the GA 2023.
