Claire Miller

Dr Claire Miller is a heritage consultant with over 10 years’ experience working throughout Victoria, and is currently an Associate at NBRS. Claire has experience across projects of all scales and typologies, working with private clients, institutions, and government agencies, and specialises in the provision of design review, conservation advice and assistance through the statutory approvals process. Her background is in architecture and academia, bringing a deep understanding of built places, research, and critical analysis. Professional highlights include is several years working on the Queen Victoria Market precinct renewal project, restoration works to the South Melbourne Town Hall, and works to the East Melbourne Synagogue. 

Claire’s approach to heritage is informed by a focus on meaning derived from personal and social connections to place. Heritage fabric and spaces are a repository of shared values and cultural connectivity which warrant preservation for future generations. Enabling creative adaptive reuse of heritage assets is an important component of a sustainable future for important places.

Alongside her involvement with ICOMOS, Claire is a regular volunteer with the Robin Boyd Foundation and is a member of the National Trust of Australia, DOCOMOMO, and other professional organisations.
