Every three years, ICOMOS holds its General Assembly, which comprises meetings of the International Executive Committee, Advisory Committee and Scientific Council, voting in of the new International Executive Committee, meetings of the International Scientific Committees and a conference.
The General Assembly is usually attended by over 1000 heritage professionals from around the world and is a wonderful opportunity to travel, learn more about the larger ICOMOS organisation and attend talks and lectures on heritage conservation topics from around the world.
Many Australia ICOMOS members regularly attend the General Assembly – the 2008 General Assembly in Canada was attended by more than 25 Australians!

21st General Assembly of ICOMOS, 2023
Australia ICOMOS hosted the 21st General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of ICOMOS (the International Council on Monuments and Sites) in Sydney from 31 August to 9 September 2023.
Over 1,200 ICOMOS Members and other heritage experts gathered in Sydney, for an engaging program of site visits, functions, workshops and a four-day Scientific Symposium on the theme of ‘Heritage Changes: Resilience – Responsibility – Rights – Relationships’.
The General Assembly (GA2023) will leave a lasting positive legacy to the recognition, protection and management of cultural and natural heritage and for communities that value and care for it in Australia and globally.

20th General Assembly of ICOMOS, 2020
