Jane Alexander

QLD & NT Representative

Jane Alexander (nee Ainsworth) is a heritage advocate with more than 15 years’ experience in private and community practice. She has qualifications in Historic Archaeology and History (BA hons) and is currently undertaking a Masters in Urban Design and Planning. Jane has been an ICOMOS member for more than 12 years.

Jane has worked on heritage properties, cultural landscapes and archaeological sites across Australia’s east coast, in both historic and indigenous heritage. Her projects have been the recipients of National Trust of Australia (NSW) and (Queensland) Heritage Awards and ASHA (Australian Society for Historical Archaeology) Awards.

Jane is a skilled heritage advocate and is currently the Manager – Heritage Advocacy for the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) where she develops strategic policy, lobbies government, brings media attention to heritage issues, educates community groups and prepares detailed submissions on development applications, planning policies and heritage legislation.

Jane has previously been a member of the Australia ICOMOS Executive Committee and was formerly an Australian expert member of IcoFORT (the International Scientific Committee on Fortifications & Military Heritage). She was a member and former chair of the National Trust (NSW) Industrial Heritage Committee. 

Jane is an enthusiastic and dedicated heritage expert who is excited about bringing a vibrant energy and proactive work manner to the Executive Committee.
