General Assembly

Every three years, ICOMOS holds its General Assembly, which comprises meetings of the International Executive Committee, Advisory Committee and Scientific Council, voting in of the new International Executive Committee, meetings of the International Scientific Committees and a conference.

The General Assembly is usually attended by over 1000 heritage professionals from around the world and is a wonderful opportunity to travel, learn more about the larger ICOMOS organisation and attend talks and lectures on heritage conservation topics from around the world.

Many Australia ICOMOS members regularly attend the General Assembly – the 2008 General Assembly in Canada was attended by more than 25 Australians!

20th General Assembly of ICOMOS, 2020

The 20th ICOMOS General Assembly will take place in October 2020 in Sydney, Australia, with the theme ‘Shared Cultures – Shared Heritage – Shared Responsibility’, which reflects both the global context of heritage as part of cultural identity at a time of rapid population shift and conflict, and the important idea of shared stewardship, which is highly relevant to Traditional Owners of heritage place.

19th General Assembly of ICOMOS, 2017

The 18th General Assembly of ICOMOS will be held in Delhi, India on 11-15 December 2017, with the theme of “Heritage and Democracy”. For further information, visit the 19th General Assembly website.

 

18th General Assembly of ICOMOS, 2014

The 18th General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of ICOMOS was held in Florence, Italy on 10-14 November 2014, with the theme of “Heritage and Landscape as Human Values”.

 The 17th General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of ICOMOS was held from 27 November to 2 December 2011 in Paris, France. The symposium theme was “Heritage, as an engine for development”.
