Deborah Lindsay

Deborah has worked as a heritage consultant in private practice and as a heritage officer in State Government for over 10 years, both in New South Wales and South Australia. Deborah has undergraduate degrees in environmental management and historical archaeology (Hon), both from Flinders University, SA.

Deborah is a Senior Heritage Officer in the State Heritage Unit of the Department of Environment Water and Natural Resources, assessing statutory development applications for State heritage places and State heritage areas. She is also a member of the Local Heritage Advisory Panel, which provides advice to the Minister for Planning in SA on local heritage matters. Deborah is the SA State Representative for Australia ICOMOS. 

Deborah provides heritage advice on conserving, developing and adapting heritage places. The Australia ICOMOS Burra Charter guides Deborah’s heritage philosophy and approach. She supports the adaptive reuse of heritage places, whether buildings, landscapes or complexes in ways that is sensitive to a place’s heritage values and the community’s needs.
